Cambodian army units backed by tanks and rocket-firing helicopters have attacked Khmer Rouge guerrilla forces around their strategic western base of Pailin, according to soldiers and officials, Reuter reports from Treng Commune, Cambodia. Khmer Rouge gunners were reportedly shelling forward units of the Cambodian army from the hills around Pailin.
