King beats LA

The city of Los Angeles formally accepted liability yesterday for the beating by white policemen of a black motorist, Rodney King, and offered to pay his medical costs, Reuter reports from Los Angeles. King is suing 31 others, mostly police officers who were present during the beating in March 1991.
