Kurdish rebels have struck another blow at Turkey's tourist industry by kidnapping another batch of Westerners in the south-east of the country, Reuter reports from Ankara. The Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK), which is fighting for an independent Kurdish state, abducted an Italian and three Swiss tourists on Saturday, bringing the total to 27 since 1991.
The PKK demands that foreigners ask its permission before travelling in the south-east and says tourism indirectly finances the Turkish armed forces.
