Kuwaiti kills Iraqi policeman

Kuwaiti workers shot two Iraqi policemen who tried to abduct them in the demilitarised border zone with Iraq, a UN spokesman said. One policeman died later in an Iraqi hospital, AP reports from Kuwait City.

The shooting occurred on the Kuwaiti side of the strip about 3km (two miles) west of the Umm Qasr naval base. One policeman died of chest injuries in a hospital in Basra. The condition of the other policeman was not serious.
