Leader hurt in crash
Gyula Horn, leader of the Hungarian Socialist Party, suffered severe injuries in a car crash three days before the first round of general elections his party appears set to win, AFP reports from Budapest.
Mr Horn, 62, suffered head and neck injuries and a broken wrist in the crash on his way back to Budapest from an electoral meeting at Miskolc, 120 miles north-east of the capital. According to opinion polls, the Socialist Party, formerly the ruling communist party, could retake power after Hungary's upcoming elections.
