Austria's coalition government split publicly over a controversial visit by the Chinese Prime Minister, Li Peng, Reuter reports from Vienna. Erhard Busek, the Vice-Chancellor, said he would boycott the visit because Mr Li rejected foreign criticism of China's human rights record. Chancellor Franz Vranitzky told Austrian radio there was nothing to be gained in insisting exclusivley on human rights.
