Liberian peace pact agreed
Geneva (AP) - Liberia's warring factions reached agreement yesterday on a peace package, including a ceasefire, an interim government and free elections.
The accord, to be signed on 24 July in Benin, came after a week of negotiations sponsored by the United Nations and Organisation of African Unity. An OAU mediator, Canaan Banana, former president of Zimbabwe, congratulated the parties on a 'victory over the forces of insanity'.
