Malawi's Alliance for Democracy says it has abandoned talks with the ruling United Democratic Front and is formulating an alliance with the Malawi Congress Party of ex-president Kamuzu Banda, AFP reports from Blantyre. The Alliance (Aford) second vice-president, the Rev Peter Kaleso, said talks with the MCP were advanced and 'we are waiting to write a letter of understanding'.
