The fate of Winnie Mandela, the estranged wife of the ANC leader, Nelson Mandela, is back in the balance today when an Appeal Court in Bloemfontein hears her case against a six-year jail sentence on kidnapping and assault charges, AFP reports from Johannesburg. Mandela, 58, was convicted in May 1991 of kidnapping three men and the 14-year-old activist 'Stompie' Moeketsi Seipei in 1988 and of being an accessory after her bodyguards beat up the four. Stompie was later murdered.
