Two car bombs killed at least 34 people in a district of Damascus loyal to President Bashar al-Assad yesterday in the deadliest attack on the Syrian capital in months.
The explosions struck the Jarmana neighbourhood, home to many of Syria's Druze minority as well as Christians.
Meanwhile rebels appear to have shot down a regime jet near Aleppo using an anti-aircraft missile. Opposition groups said they captured the pilot after he ejected from his MiG 23 fighter.
