An Israeli man was killed in a drive-by-shooting on a West Bank road by Palestinian gunmen this morning, the army said.
The Israeli was fatally wounded, lost control of his car and hit an oncoming truck, Jewish settler leaders said. He died shortly afterwards.
The attack occurred on an Israeli controlled road south of Jerusalem. According to the army, Palestinian gunmen shot on the car from a passing vehicle and then fled into nearby town of Bethlehem which is controlled by the Palestinian Authority.
Jewish settlers have been the targets of shooting attacks on West Bank and Gaza Strip roads since Israeli-Palestinian fighting broke out almost six months ago. To date, 429 people have been killed including 352 Palestinians, 58 Israeli Jews, and 19 others.
