Shoe-thrower 'beaten' at Bush press conference

A judge is investigating the scuffle that followed the incident where a journalist, Muntadhar al-Zeidi, threw his shoes at President George Bush. Judge Dhia al-Kinani says Mr al-Zeidi, charged with insulting a foreign leader, "was beaten" at the news conference.

Iraqis have demonstrated for his release. Mr Al-Zeidi was wrestled to the ground and the judge said videotape of the scuffle would be studied. "We will watch the tape and write an official letter asking for the names of those who assaulted him," he said.
