Anti-government demonstrators in Yemen gathered yesterday in the capital Sanaa to protest against police and military brutality.

About 14 people, including women and a child, are believed to have been killed on Friday when the army used tanks to shell residential areas of the city of Taiz. Soldiers were also killed last week by anti-government forces.
