Two Turkish ministers announced yesterday they would run for the leadership of the True Path Party (DYP), springboard to the post of prime minister, Reuter reports from Ankara.
The Interior Minister, Ismet Sezgin, and the Education Minister, Koksal Toptan, held separate news conferences to declare their candidacy for the chairmanship of the DYP. They join two other leading contenders, Tansu Ciller, a former minister, and Bedrettin Dalan, the former mayor of Istanbul.
