One day after being crowned Miss World amid protests against the beauty pageant, Irene Kliva of Greece, above, posed for photographers but dodged questions about the controversy.

When asked about the protests by groups saying beauty pageants demean women, Julia Morley, the organiser, took over the microphones, saying: "Skliva does not wish to discuss this but will answer anything positive about India." Bangalore - AP
