Moi adviser rejoins cabinet in reshuffle

A government reshuffle was announced by Kenyan President Daniel arap Moi in the run-up to elections scheduled for later this year. Most significant of the changes is the return to the cabinet of Nicholas Biwott five years after being dropped, following allegations of corruption and involvement in the 1990 murder of a former foreign minister. Mr Biwott has long been a friend and adviser to President Moi.

A negative response to his nomination is expected from foreign donors who have been pressing the government to clamp down on corruption. David Orr - Nairobi
