Lima (Reuter) - Peru's deposed first lady, Susana Higuchi, said she would run for president in April's election despite a law barring presidential family members from seeking high office. 'I accept the challange and I will run for president,' she said.
Her decision came after she had announced the formation of the political movement Harmony 21st Century to oppose her husband, President Alberto Fujimori, in the vote on 9 April. Ms Higuchi said she was forming a ticket to combat what she said were the corruption, broken promises and cronyism of her husband's government.
