Mubarak gives reform pledge

President Hosni Mubarak was sworn in for a third six-year term yesterday and pledged to reform Egypt's vast bureaucratic system by introducing new faces, Reuter reports from Cairo. Mr Mubarak, facing the violence of Muslim militants, also promised democratic reforms but said they would have to proceed slowly to avoid upheavals.
