Rome (AFP) - The murders of five homosexuals within a few months in Rome have sent shock waves through Italy's gay community, sparking fears that a serial killer might be responsible.

The latest victim is Walter Heyman, 54, a German who became Rome's best known fortune- teller. He was a flamboyant figure of Roman night-life and his clientele included show-business stars and politicians. His body, with multiple stab wounds, was discovered on Sunday at his flat in the Trastevere district. A large sum of money was found on the body and the murder is believed to have taken place on New Year's Eve.
