Communist-led riots spread from Kathmandu to nearby Lalitpur, where police shot dead three protesters and wounded six, AP reports from Kathmandu.

The Communists launched a strike in three cities last Friday to demand a new investigation into the deaths of two of their leaders, Madan Bhandari and Jeev Raj Ashrit, killed when their Jeep plunged into a river last month.
