A new Nato headquarters, Allied Forces North-West Europe, was established at RAF High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, yesterday, writes Christopher Bellamy. Nato's Supreme Commander, Europe, US General George A Joulwan, inaugurated the new command, which is responsible for the defence of the UK and Norway and their extended coastal waters (out to 200 miles), plus the air-space.
