NAIROBI - The Kenya Wildlife Service yesterday named its deputy director, Omar Bashir, as director to replace Richard Leakey, who resigned in protest at what he called a campaign of 'vilification' and lack of political support for his conservation efforts. Several government ministers and other officials had accused Mr Leakey of corruption, mismanagement and racism. AFP
