Bernard Tapie was given a two-year suspended jail sentence for fraud by a French court yesterday. The conviction of the bankrupt businessman and former cabinet minister was his third conviction in a year.

The court in Bethune, northern France, found Tapie guilty of misappropriating funds from the Testut firm, a manufacturer of weighing machines that was part of his defunct business empire. Reuter - Bethune
