Boutros Boutros-Ghali, the UN Secretary-General, said he hoped his visit to North Korea this week would help ease the crisis over its nuclear programme, AP reports from Tokyo. He said he was ready to help in negotiations between Pyongyang and Washington on the nuclear issue.
