North Yemeni forces were yesterday advancing towards Aden from the north but had been unable to complete a siege around the southern stronghold, Reuter reports from Al-Anad. Breakaway South Yemen suggested that the only way to end the civil war was negotiations under Arab League auspices along with the withdrawal of northern Yemeni forces to pre-1990 unification positions.
