Forty-three people were taken to hospital after a leak of toxic material at a nuclear centre at Nizhny Novgorod, east of Moscow, Itar- Tass news agency said yesterday.

It quoted local civil defence officials as saying that the accident occurred on Sunday when the toxic substance, cadmium dimethyl, leaked at a plant belonging to the Sarovo nuclear centre. Reuters - Moscow
