Papua rebels lose stronghold
PORT MORESBY (AP) - The government of Papua New Guinea said yesterday that troops had taken a strategic rebel stronghold on the troubled island of Bougainville. The secessionist Bougainville Revolutionary Army and other sympathisers of the self-proclaimed Bougainville interim government confirmed the attack, but said the soldiers were occupying only part of the town of Arawa. The government statement said no soldiers were injured.
