Two Indian peace-keepers were shot dead in an ambush by Somali gunmen in the southern port city of Kismayo yesterday, a United Nations military spokesman said, AFP reports from Mogadishu. The two, a sergeant and a corporal, were the first Indians killed in action in Somalia. They were shot while escorting two employees of the UN Children's Fund (Unicef) between food distribution centres in the city, where factional fighting erupted last month.
