HONG KONG (AFP) - The undeclared political truce over the Lunar New Year holiday ended yesterday as China resumed its attacks on Governor Chris Patten and his political reform plans for 1995 elections to the Legislative Council, the territory's parliament. China was signalling that it was more determined than ever to block the reform plan by keeping a close watch on every move inside the territory, analysts said.
Peking's attacks sent the Hang Seng index, an important barometer of business confidence, plunging by 2.3 per cent.
