Rabat (Reuter) - The Moroccan government commented yesterday for the first time on a sex scandal involving a senior police officer, saying it should not tarnish the image of the police force as a whole. The trial of Chief Police Commissioner Haj Mohamed Mustapha Tabet, 54, has made sensational headlines.

The case allegedly involved 518 women and girls who, over several years, were filmed secretly while having sexual intercourse with Mr Tabet. Some were later blackmailed.
