Police paid

MOGADISHU (Reuter) - Somalia's new police force had its first pay day. The 4,000-strong Somalia Auxiliary Police, so far based only in Mogadishu and three provincial towns, has received basic training from military police experts in the US-led Unified Task Force. Some 3,000 police were paid a total of 4bn Somali shillings (pounds 600,000) by the UN.
