BRUSSELS (Reuter) - European Community countries can bar pornographic television transmissions despite EC rules promoting cross-border broadcasts. Joao de Deus Pinheiro, the EC's new audiovisual commissioner, said the EC's 'television without frontiers' directive required EC countries to prohibit programmes that could harm the 'physical, mental or moral development of minors'.
