NIAMEY (AFP) - Muslim zealots in the town of Zinder beat up prostitutes to the cries of 'Allahu akbar' (God is most great) on Friday because they believed the women were stopping the rain from falling. On Saturday, a torrential downpour fell on Niamey, drowning an elderly woman, whose shack was inundated, and carrying two men to their deaths.
