Dingiri Banda Wijetunga was elected president by the Sri Lankan parliament, a day after the cremation of assassinated president Ranasinghe Premadasa, AP reports from Colombo. Mr Wijetunga had been the low-profile prime minister in Premadasa's government since 1989.
