Moscow (Reuters) - President Bill Clinton and President Boris Yeltsin will hold a summit in Helsinki next month, it was announced yesterday. The summit will take place on 20-21 March in Helsinki, Itar-Tass news agency said.
American officials said the location and date had been agreed in meetings between Vice-President Al Gore and Russian Prime Minister Viktor Chernomyrdin, conferring as part of a periodic US-Russia liaison effort. The meeting, originally scheduled to be held in the US, was to relocated on account of Mr Yeltsin's health.
