Cambodia's newly-elected constituent assembly reinstalled as head of state Prince Norodom Sihanouk, who urged an end to a secessionist movement that threatens renewed civil war, AP reports from Phnom Penh.
The assembly, meeting for the first time since last month's election, is to adopt a democratic constitution within three months, then form a government. But it faces a formidable task; the secessionists control 40 per cent of the country, while the Khmer Rouge guerrillas, who boycotted the election, control 20 per cent.
