VALRICO, FLORIDA (AP) - A black man who authorities said was kidnapped by three white men, robbed, doused with petrol and set on fire remained in critical condition yesterday.

Police said they were investigating whether the assault was racially motivated.

Christopher Wilson, 31, suffered second- and third-degree burns during the assault on New Year's Day. Detectives said his money was taken and robbery is thought to be the motive.
