Stockholm (AP) - Radioactive steam has leaked in a reactor building at the Ignalina nuclear plant in Lithuania, Swedish officials said.
Swedish nuclear agencies said they had no reports that radioactivity had entered the atmosphere outside the reactor building. A spokeswoman for the Swedish Nuclear Power Inspectorate, Gunilla Wunsche, quoted Lithuanian officials as saying that the reactor was being shut down. They did not say for how long. Ignalina, Lithuania's main source of power, is 90km (56 miles) from the capital, Vilnius. 'We have no reason to believe the leak is above allowed limits,' Ms Wunsche said.
