KABUL (AFP) - Heavy rocketing from Hizb-e-Islami rebels pounded Kabul yesterday, ending a three-day lull. Several salvos fell on the diplomatic enclave, wounding the Bulgarian ambassador, killing two local employees in the French embassy and damaging the Pakistani ambassador's home.
A long-range rocket also landed in the UN compound where the deposed president, Najibullah, is staying, damaging its communications tower. The last remaining international UN officials left Kabul yesterday.
