Rifkind flies out to promote arms sales

Malcolm Rifkind, Secretary of State for Defence, begins a week-long visit to Namibia, South Africa and Zimbabwe today, to promote exports of equipment and expertise, writes Christopher Bellamy. The most promising order is for four corvettes - fast warships smaller than frigates - for South Africa's navy. Mr Rifkind will give "full support" to a bid by Yarrow shipbuilders on the Clyde.
