A 19-year-old youth described as the leader of Rio's street children died from gunshot wounds to the head that he received in a suspected police vigilante operation, AFP reports from Rio de Janeiro.

Marco Antonio da Silva, known as 'Redhair', was the eighth person to die as a result of last Friday's massacre. He went into a coma after being shot through an eye.
