Seoul (Reuter) - Roh Tae Woo, the South Korean President, sacked his controversial spy chief and senior cabinet ministers yesterday, and declared war against corruption to ensure fairness in next December's elections to pick his successor.

Mr Roh is due to step down in February after a five-year term. He is constitutionally barred from standing for a second term.

The President dismissed Lee Sahng Yeon, the spy agency chief, and Lee Tong Ho, the Interior Minister, Kim Ki Choon, the Justice Minister and Son Chu Whan, the Information Minister.
