Rostov-on-Don (Reuter) - A court yesterday ordered the execution of the 'Rostov Ripper', who was convicted of 52 sex-and-torture murders during a 12-year reign of terror in southern Russia, Ukraine and Uzbekistan.
'The court cannot but sentence this man to what he deserves for his terrible crimes - that is, to death,' the court, presided over by three judges, ruled in a verdict that took two days to read. Sentence on Andrei Chikatilo, 57, will be carried out with a single bullet fired in the back of the head.
