Russian aid plan
LOS ANGELES (Reuter) - In a bid to boost the standing of Russian President Boris Yeltsin, the US and other Western nations are assembling an aid package of at least pounds 28 billion that can be announced next week, the Los Angeles Times said yesterday. Western officials were reported to have said they hoped the aid would be enough to have an impact on Russian public opinion in time for the referendum on Mr Yeltsin's reform plans on 25 April.
