US Senate leaders clinched a last-minute deal with wavering Democrats on health care yesterday, greatly improving the odds on the passage of President Bill Clinton's economic plan, Reuter reports from Washington. Mr Clinton was cautiously optimistic. Democrats also turned back Republican amendments to eliminate a petrol tax from the bill.
