The Lahore High Court yesterday admitted a petition filed on behalf of the sacked Pakistani prime minister, Nawaz Sharif, challenging the dissolution of the National Assembly, Reuter reports from Lahore. The five-judge bench ordered the government to appear for a hearing on 3 May. The speaker of the National Assembly, Gohar Ayub Khan, filed the petition early on Monday, hours after President Ghulam Ishaq Khan dissolved the assembly and sacked the prime minister.
