Shuttle blasts off on ozone study

The space shuttle Discovery soared into orbit yesterday on a delayed mission to study Earth's thinning ozone layer, Reuter reports from Cape Canaveral. Discovery, with five astronauts, lifted off in a rare and spectacular night launch two days after technical problems halted countdown with 11 seconds to blast-off.
