Brave six-year-old girl attempts to stop robbery

A six-year-old girl has been hailed “the bravest girl in the country” after she tried to stop an axe-wielding robber from attacking an employee during an ambush on her family’s electrical shop in Auckland, New Zealand.

CCTV footage shows Sarah Patel rushing towards a masked man armed with an axe in an attempt to defend an employee who had been hit to the floor.

Sarah can then be seen helping her grandfather out of the room and fleeing the shop.

In an interview with TVNZ, Sarah said she was not scared at all while attempting to save the floored employee.

Sarah’s father, Suhail Patel, told TVNZ: “This is not the training I would give her obviously but she definitely did the right thing.”

Five 16-year-old boys have been charged with aggravated robbery, injuring with intent and breaching bail.

Police continue to search for a sixth suspect.
