Pakistani troops exchanged fire with Somali gunmen in Mogadishu yesterday after a series of shooting incidents overnight, AFP reports from Mogadishu. A Pakistani patrol was fired on in the afternoon when it approached a demonstration against the UN by some 500 Somalis. The Pakistanis returned fire. Guards at the UN compound exchanged shots with snipers.
