Somalis kill and kidnap UN troops

Rome - Three Malaysian soldiers were killed and seven other UN peace-keepers, including three Italians and a New Zealander, were kidnapped in a shoot-out in the Somali capital, Italian military sources said yesterday. Three Malaysian soldiers were kidnapped in Mogadishu along with the four officers from Italy and New Zealand. They said the captors had already contacted Unosom and stated they would announce a ransom demand today. Reuter
